The problem with having a web statistics tool fitting all needs
I guess everyone working with web technologies has crossed this kind of problem at least once. You have been using a program for a long time, it was not perfect, but just did the job for you you, that you wanted it to do.
We have been using Webtrends for a long time, the problem is, just recently our version stopped working, which is actually no wonder, the program we have has been outdated for a pretty long time, we are two versions behind.
Of course the only thing that changed over the years is, that our boss wants to spend less money, than he had spent, when he first bought that program. and of course, the new version is even more expensive than the old one.
The reason for using Webtrends, and the reason why no other free Web statistics program did the job for us, is the fact, that some of our customers seem to have the need for the so called 2D-Parameter-Analysis (Where you compare e.g. the clicks to your page with customers receiving a newsletter email with links in it).
AWStats is able to provide the information, but it seems it is to hard to figure out awstats for our boss and the projectmanagers, so we wont be using that one.
I've been looking somewhat long into that term, and found no good solution.
Google Analytics also provides the functionality, but there we are running into another problem, we have some customers with a single page, that has pointing multiple domains at it, and google analytics isnt able to do the job of parting the domains for us, and since the urchin.js is obfuscated, theres little hope in understanding the way Google Analytics actually handles the stats.
So if any of my readers got a good recommondation, any tip would be highly appreciated.
Greetings, your Oliver.
